Thanos is an alumnus of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, having been awarded multiple music scholarships during his studies. He is currently the drummer for Leadfeather, a heavy rock band based in London. Recently, the band was featured in Classic Rock Magazine, where their single, Roll the Dice, took first place in the Track of the Week contest. Previously he served as the drummer for London’s Five Points Gang, a rock band nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year by the UK Blues Federation and awarded first place as Best New Band at the introductory stage of the Great British Rock & Blues Festival. With extensive tours throughout the UK and Europe, Five Points Gang has garnered recognition from respected publications like Blues Matters Magazine and BBC Radio 2.
Throughout his career, Thanos has performed in iconic venues including Irving Plaza, the Theatre of Living Arts, and the Gramercy Theatre. He has had the privilege of performing alongside legendary rock bands like the Dead Kennedys, as well as collaborating with acclaimed artists across various genres, including jazz, rock, fusion, pop, and world music. Notably, he has shared stages with Grammy-nominated musicians.
Beyond his performing endeavors, Thanos has made notable contributions as a composer. He has crafted music for the short film ”Viral” where he collaborated with the esteemed cinematographer Rick Macomber, who has won multiple Emmy awards. Additionally, he has collaborated with renowned record producer and engineer Matthew Ellard (known for his work with Elliot Smith and Motorhead). His single ”The Speaking Mind” has garnered high praise from respected figures in the music industry, such as Sean Slade, a producer associated with Radiohead and Lou Reed. Additionally, Thanos and his punk rock band, The Burning Streets, have been highlighted in major U.S. publications, including the Village Voice, and he has also appeared on popular TV shows like The X-Factor.
With his passion for music education, Thanos has held roles as a show director at the prestigious School of Rock, a global leader in music education franchises. Additionally, he has served as a music tutor at Berklee College of Music and was selected to instruct the online Berklee course “Developing Your Musicianship” in collaboration with School of Rock. He has had the privilege of teaching numerous students of various skill levels at renowned music schools in the New England area, including the Boston School of Music Arts. Notably, his students have achieved significant milestones, such as performing at prominent music festivals like Summerfest in Milwaukee the world’s largest music festival, and reaching the finals of esteemed world music competitions like the “Hit Like A Girl” drum contest.
